The Archive’s collection includes works of art from across Asia, including South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka); North and East Asia (China, Korea, Japan, Mongolia); the Himalayas (Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, Sikkim); Central Asia (Afghanistan, China); and Southeast Asia (Burma/Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia).
Spellings and terminology differ across the Asian regions represented in the Archive’s collection. A search for Avalokitesvara, for example, might also bring results for Guanyin (the Chinese name for this Bodhisattva). Please also try alternative possible spellings for words (such as the no longer used Kuanyin for Guanyin), as well as different transcription methods of terms (such as sakti versus shakti).
